Fiat upgraded “Fiat Linea” and added more style to already good looking package. But as car obtained more finesse, it came at a big price tag. Fiat will be selling earlier generation car alongside new a one with moniker “Classic” attached to it. We get to spend few days with this appropriate sized C-segment saloon to understand the advantage it continues with its size.
The styling is sober with good solid touch to all switches and the toggles. Cost cutting implies you do not get much regarding the kit. You will be provided with a CD changer along with 4 speakers, but AUX/ USB/ Bluetooth are not available. There are power windows on four sides, but driver can handle only front two from his end. Two glove boxes add lot of convenience.
The air-conditioner is very effective and it really cools the cabin. The most impressive aspect is the solid sturdy feel of cabin. Everything is placed together and the seats are supportive but comfort lags. The steering is perfectly sized and also weighed. A leather wrap would be the welcome touch.
Linea Classic is actually well equipped when you think about the list price of car and its longest wheelbase in segment implies that there is ample space in the whole cabin. The only issue is the headroom at the rear for a tall occupant which is not adequate. The boot space is very considerate with a capacity of 500 lts.

Diesel variant is the pick and it has great torque which is integrated with quick shifting transmission. Acceleration numbers are not scorching, but adequate to make the car more exciting.
The handling is perhaps the best bit about Linea Classic. The steering is direct and explains regarding the front wheels. The quality of ride is very impressive. It is a big sedan with 2603 mm wheelbase and is good to drive. The suspension is well adjusted for Indian roads and the clutch do have annoyingly jerky at the low speeds, but is small price to pay for all the other advantages.
On whole, the Fiat Linea Classic is big car for fewer budgets. It is longest in the segment, so do not compromise regarding space and also it comes equipped with the brilliant Multijet diesel mill. It drives very well and the quality of ride is very smooth. A big boot is being offered to carry your stuff and with all these advantages with a beginning price of Rs. 5.88 Lakh, the big Italian yet makes bold statement for itself.
