Land Rover’s First Discovery Sport Rolls out

The first production model of Discovery Sport finally rolls out from Land Rover’s Halewood manufacturing plant in United Kingdom. It has resulted to 250 new jobs and that resulted in the total count of 4,750 as the part of £200m invested by JLR to support new model. It replaces Freelander2.




Murray Dietsch, Director of Land Rover Programmes stated that, “It makes me pride to witness the first new Discovery Sport coming off the line at our world class Halewood production facility and we are excited to give keys to crew at Virgin Galactic”.

The seating arrangement for 5+2 passengers and 1st vehicle was received by the Land Rover Virgin Galactic’s Stephen Attenborough, the Commercial Director.




Coming to the mechanical specifications, Discovery Sport is offered with a turbocharged 2.0 litre petrol and 2.2 litre diesel mill options along with All Wheel Drive and 9-speed automatic transmission.

“I am glad to be introducing new Land Rover Discovery Sport to Halewood”, said by Richard Else, Plant director. He also added, “The decision to build Land Rover Discovery sport at Halewood is testament to our remarkable team who are loyal to deliver the outstanding customer quality as stated by award winning Range Rover Evoque”.
