Fiat made the world premier of new family member of its 500 series- 500x compact crossover SUV. The range of 500 includes a 500 hatchback, 500L and 500 Living MPV models. 500X compact crossover SUV will be produced at Turin based manufacturer’s upgraded SATA plant in Melfi, Italy. The vehicle is set to go on the sale in second half of 2015 and will be on sale in more than 100 countries.
On Design front, 500x appears like beefed up 500 hatch complements its crossover DNA. Coming to the interiors, dashboard is similar 500 territories, funky overall layout. Fiat provided U-Connect touchscreen infotainment system that boasts the host of connectivity features. Moreover, AC vents louvers are clumsily positioned down the central console.
Fiat 500x is provided with both the engines, diesel and petrol. Diesel, 500X features 1.6L Multijet II that generates 120 hp coupled to six-speed MT in FWD layout. Speaking of petrol, 500X gets 1.4L turbocharged MultiAir II 140hp mill coupled to six speed MT in FWD layout. There is also 140hp 2.0L MultiJet II motor, now the things become spicy as the engine gets Fiat’s first 9-speed automatic transmission that features 4-wheel-drive.
All these engines comes into availability at the time of launch and later on Fiat will add 170 hp, 1.4Lturbo MultiAir II petrol with AWD and nine-speed AT, 110hp, 1.6L E-torQ and the 184hp Tigershark 2.4L engine. Fiat 500 comes with “Drive Mode Selector” with 3 modes namely as Sport, All-Weather and Auto.
